Why can't I place an order?
If you can’t place an order (i.e. you don’t have access to a shopping basket), it’s likely that you’ve just registered and your registration is awaiting validation before you can log in, use your lightboxes and order items from a shopping basket. The Visit London Images team endeavours to confirm your registration as quickly as possible. However, if you have registered during holiday periods or out of office hours there maybe a delay in confirming the registration. If you require images immediately and cannot wait for your registration to be confirmed, please contact Visit London Images who should be able to assist you in obtaining imagery.

Why can't I register?
If your registration form will not submit or you can’t log in, this usually means you haven't accepted Visit London Images’s Terms & Conditions. The site’s registration process requires you to read and agree to our Terms & Conditions, after which you will receive an e-mail confirming your registration details. You will then be free to log in, browse the site and order images online.

How much do the images cost?
For Visit London staff, those working on behalf of Visit London , partners, and the travel trade press, if the copyright to the images you have selected is owned by Visit London, they will be provided free of charge. Collaboration images (i.e. images whose copyright belongs outside Visit London) will carry reproduction charges for these user groups.

If you are working in the travel trade, for the government, charities & education or on a non tourism-related project, charges will be applicable for all Visit London and collaboration imagery.

The following table summarises Visit London Images’s pricing structure:

User Group VisitBritain Copyright Collaboration Images

Strategic partners of Visit London No charge Charges apply

Travel Trade Charges apply Charges apply
UK Government, Charities & Education 15% discount applies Charges apply

The price of reproducing images depends on the nature of your work/project, the type of publication, print run, footprint and rights required. Please visit the pricing section for more information. As a general reference, a quarter page image for use in a brochure is likely to cost around £90; for a front cover the price will double, and for a back cover the cost will be 150%.

How can I download high resolution images?
To download images directly to your desktop, you need to place an order first.  Then you simply select the 'download' option when completing the order.  We also offer delivery via e-mail, ISDN, FTP or cd rom.  Please visit the ordering and delivery options sections for more information.

How long does it take to receive the images?
If you are downloading images directly to your desktop, the download time will depend on the speed of your network. As a general rule of thumb, we recommend that you don't order huge quantities of images at a time (i.e. stick to no more than 20 images per session).

Is there material that's not online?
All our current photographic material is online, and the library is updated as and when new shoots are undertaken. All delivery is now via Visit London Images.

How do I save a lightbox?
Your lightboxes will automatically save – and you are welcome to have as many of them as you like! You can also create new ones, share and keep them. When you wish to add images to a lightbox or order from a lightbox, simply log in and select your preferred lightbox via the drop down menu at the top right of your screen. There is no limit to the amount of lightboxes you can have although there is an expiry time on each of them of 30 days from the last time a lightbox was used. For the sake of good housekeeping, we recommend that you purge your lightboxes regularly.

What size are the images?
Images are usually A4, 300dpi.  Low resolution images are also available, which are 72 dpi and usually 600 pixels along the long side.  Visit London Images can also enlarge images to any preferred size. Please contact the team to discuss your requirements and they will confirm any additional charges that may be applicable for this service.

How can I receive an image without the watermark?
You need to buy it! Once you place an order and declare your intended usage, you will then receive/be able to download an image without the Visit London Images watermark on it. We provide the watermarked images free of charge for layout purposes. We hope that we will soon be able to offer a special pricing structure for ordering low resolution images without a watermark that are suitable for pitching and proposals. Please consult the news section for the latest Visit London Images developments.

How do I get my password?
When you register you can choose your own login name and password. If you forget your password, click the ‘forgotten your password?’ link on the home page. Your hint will then appear in the box, as entered when registering. If you are still unable to remember your password you can either re-register using a different log in name or contact Visit London Images to delete your previous registration, therefore allowing you to re-register with the previous log in name.

Why hasn't my order arrived?
It can take time for the system to select chosen images and zip/stuff them. This can be because of corporate/ISP e-mail size limits, or spam filters. If this is case, try adding Visit London Images to your safe senders list.

Can Visit London Images do the research for me?
Yes. We can also source photographic contacts for you and coordinate shoots. For tailored services, prices will be provided on application.

Why can't I find anything that suits my search criteria?
If you can’t find what you’re looking for, it’s probably because of misspelling or grammatical errors. It may be that you have not been specific enough, or you might have tried using whole sentences instead of single words (which our site search is unable to process). Note that the site’s quick search and advanced searches ARE dependent, so make sure you include additional details in the advanced search screen or you will get exactly the same results. Also, check that you have removed/changed your initial criteria as necessary.

What are 'collaboration fees' and do they apply to me?
Collaboration images are any images that don't belong to Visit London (i.e. they are agency or photographer-owned shots). Fees for these images are applicable to all users, although the pricing of the images will be no different from Visit London-owned materials. The Visit London Images library includes collaboration images to enhance its offer and appeal, and for this reason each image/submission is vetted for quality and style before it is included in our collection.
